Angseri Hot Springs: A Quiet Escape in the Bali Highlands

We love exploring the places around us, and on this occasion, we set off early in the morning after watching the sunrise at Lake Beratan. It took us only about 20 minutes by motorbike, passing through lush greenery and a small Balinese village along the way. The warm smiles from the locals made the cool morning air feel even more welcoming. In the highlands of Tabanan, surrounded by rice terraces, bamboo forests, and beautiful green countryside, you will find Angseri Hot Springs, a peaceful place to slow down and enjoy a quieter side of Bali.
The village of Angseri offers a relaxing pause at the natural hot springs. The pools are surrounded by lush vegetation and a small waterfall, creating a simple but natural tropical setting where you can spend time dipping in the warm water while listening to the sounds of waterfalls.

Angseri has several pools to choose from. The main pool near the entrance looks out over a beautiful tropical garden, while the pools further inside are surrounded by greenery, a small river, and a waterfall. There are also smaller private baths where you can enjoy the warm water in a more peaceful setting. The pools have different temperatures, reaching up to around 40°C, so you can find the one that feels most comfortable. During our visit, we even spotted monkeys moving through the trees and playing near the water, adding to the feeling that you are truly surrounded by jungle. The naturally sulfur-rich water has a distinctive greenish colour. Sulfur springs are traditionally appreciated for their soothing qualities and are often associated with benefits for the skin. After a long day of exploring Bali, there is something wonderfully relaxing about soaking in warm mineral-rich water, surrounded by tropical nature.

For couples, Angseri can be a lovely addition to a honeymoon holiday in Bali. There are private bathing rooms where you can enjoy the warm springs away from the main pools, making the experience more intimate and relaxed. The entrance fee is around IDR 50,000 per person. When we visited in the morning at around 9am, there were still very few people around, making it a peaceful time to enjoy the pools and surrounding nature. Angseri is also a family-friendly destination and a great place to bring children, with different pools and plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. I would definitely love to bring my own family here someday.

The journey to Angseri is also part of the experience. The area lies between Jatiluwih and Bedugul, surrounded by some of Bali's most fascinating highland scenery. You can combine a visit to the hot springs with a walk through the rice terraces, a visit to a local village, or simply take your time exploring the countryside.
Angseri is not about luxury facilities or grand attractions. Its charm comes from the natural surroundings and the opportunity to experience a quieter, more local side of Bali. For honeymooners who want to step away from the crowds and enjoy a peaceful moment together, a visit to Angseri Hot Springs can be a wonderful addition to a tailor-made Bali journey.
